Where living, laughing, and learning inspires entertainment!
With a spark of inspiration, Liz Greer and Ruth Anne Shepherd jumped at the opportunity to write their first screenplay. With writing under their belt, they took a leap of faith in 2011 by organizing a film production company.
GeckoBlu Entertainment is a collaboration of experienced business and production professionals founded on the concept of creating exceptional family entertainment.
Located in the center of Silicon Valley, the company seeks out leading industry technological advances; traditional and modern distribution models; bringing the global entertainment experience to the comfort of local community.
Currently in development is their first feature film; in addition they've received numerous requests to write additional screenplays.
As a young seven-year-old her imagination dreamed up complex plots and she often talked her friends into acting out her sometimes silly and often suspenseful stories. Her favorite role was Sue Coleman (yes, named after camping equipment) a self proclaimed, sophisticated detective who always seemed to get herself into more sticky situations than solving mysteries.
Liz began writing in high school with a small collection of poems, then set her writing aside to attend to her education, career, and family.
Born in Palo Alto, California, Liz has 20 plus years of professional experience encompassing electronics distribution, insurance and investments, and construction industries.
In 2004 she was sought after as a key individual to develop a specialized construction company in the multi-dwelling residential sector. As the Operations Manager of a small startup she was instrumental in assembling a talented team, who transformed a small maintenance department into a full service general construction firm. In 2011 the company was successfully acquired by a competitor. Her lead role included overseeing policies and procedures; contract negotiations and administration; office management; human resources; payroll; safety, accounting, business expansion from one to four offices, and managing multi-million dollar annual budgets.
With a spark of inspiration she returned to the passion of her youth. Liz and Ruth Anne Shepherd wrote their first full feature screenplay, several shorts, and an advertisement script.
Liz is a graduate of Brigham Young University Idaho and completed Small Business and Entrepreneurial Training through Silicon Valley BYU Management Society.
She enjoys time with her daughter, volunteer work for her church, a good laugh, movies, music, practical jokes, history, education, and spending time with friends and family.
As a native New Yorker Ruth Anne always knew her heart belonged to California and was more than excited when she landed in the heart of Silicon Valley at the age of two.
Ruth Anne earned a B.S. from San Jose State University and graduated with distinction. Her career includes over six years experience as a programmer analyst for MIPS and Silicon Graphics during the "Beauty and the Beast" and "Jurassic Park" eras. She successfully pioneered tele-commuting part-time from home, and a few years later "retired" from high-tech to raise her children.
Balancing her family's needs, she built her own business based on reputation and word-of-mouth referrals. For over twenty years, she has taught weekly quality private piano lessons and produced annual recitals. Volunteering is part of her vibrant lifestyle: Ruth Anne donates resources, time, and talent to her children's schools and to the Bay Area community. She served four years as chapter president of a national non-profit organization promoting awareness of the crucial link between children's vision and learning. Her "retirement" actually mimics the demanding work-a-holic lifestyle of an entrepreneur.
Curling up to watch great movies is a combination of a fun escape and the analysis of the art and science of entertainment: observing the nuances and chemistry of skilled actors, appreciating the creativity of the lines and plot twists, and savoring the magic of the musical score. For years she would toss ideas for movie plots around in her head. Then a new business idea was hatched when Liz Greer approached her with the concept of writing a screenplay together.
